Around BlockleySometimes known as 'the secret village in the Cotswolds', Blockley is a large village with the golden glow of local ashlar stone nestling in a fold of the Cotswold hills mid-way between the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, a typical town of the affluent wool merchants of the 14th and 15th centuries. A hundred years ago, the spring-studded hills made Blockley a prime choice for the silk mills based in the Coventry ribbon trade, when at least six mills employed 600 people. Today these beautiful old mills, terraced amidst long rows of cottages have been converted to lovely homes and harmonise well, adding character to the village. | ||
